Saving Us From The Mundane

Tired of the same old indie bands flogging the same sound time and time again? Had enough of the emo craze that's steadily taking over the nation one angst ridden teenager at a time? Don't know one end of your glow stick from another and have no inclination to embrace Nu-Rave? Then fear not, all is not lost, there are still bands out there that know how to get down and dirty and deliver good old fashioned rock and roll. Step forward the Archie Bronson Outfit, a band who sound like they were conceived in Nashville but instead can be found on these fair shores, or more preciously in South London. With a dirty blues vein penetrating throughout coated in a layer of Americana and peppered with an organic rawness, the Archie Bronson Outfit make the type of music that oozes scuzzy rock and roll from every pore and will seductively enthral you from start to sleazy finish.

'Cherry Lips', the latest release from their second album, 'Derrang Derrang', sees the English trio teasingly flirting with a regimented drum beat and alluring alt country guitar riff that steadily matures to encompass a funky retro edge wrapped around lead singer Sam 'The Cardinal' Windett's agitated howls, sounding like Jack White in his Raconteurs guise mingled with the Arcade Fire's Win Butler. Throw in a garage rock ethos and the Archie Bronson Outfit have instantly become the saviours of dirty blues rock, as far from the bands hogging the airwaves as you could possibly get and bringing the dank rawness of rock shimmying out of your speakers and sashaying throughout the room. Forget the latest dance craze, 'Cherry Lips' will have you shaking your hips before you realise as the Archie Bronson Outfit tentatively seduce you with a sound that's reassuringly familiar but refreshingly new. You have been warned.
