Too Much Hype Can Hurt

Having been paraded about as the hottest thing to come out of Scotland since Haggis was exported south, The Dykeenies have been getting people all hot and bothered for some time now with their infectious outpouring of art rock, placing them high in people's expectations ,so high in fact that they must be suffering from vertigo. And here's where the problem stems. If you pay attention to The Artic Monkeys' profound words of wisdom and "don't believe the hype" than The Dykeenies offer utterly irresistible gems of joyous indie rock but if you fall foul of the publicity, you may be left scratching your head and wondering if that's it.

'Clean Up Your Eyes' sticks rigidly to the art rock path throwing in chunky guitars that hook themselves into you before sweeping through with synths to make The Killers proud. Add intelligently insightful lyrics akin to Bloc Party or Maximo Park and instantly The Dykeenies have brewed an anthemitcally charged infectious number that you can't refuse, the problem is the music scene is swamped with such tracks, endlessly being churned out of the radio and as such The Dykeenies may have to raise the bar slightly in order to elbow the rest of the crowd out of their way. Try not to let the hype stand in your way.
