Future of the Left- Manchasm

Up And coming exciting ‘rock’ band Future of the Left have received some rave reviews as of late, performing high profile venues such as the Great Escape and the critically acclaimed Camden Crawl. Neither of the above could have done these guys any harm. Fourth single ’Manchasm’ (a chasm of men), taken from debut album ’Curses’ is said to be the pop rock commercial track of them all- bypassing particular genres and branching out into punk territory.

Former members of Mclusky and Jarcrew have teamed together to create future of the left, and provide this new track; a sharp, exciting Billy Talent, Young Knives-esque release. Although said to be the radio friendly record on the album, the underground vibe is still very much alive; with a catchy intriguing keyboard riff and eccentric intro.

It’s good, but not really to my taste- lacking any real creativity and unfortunately following in the footsteps of typical three chord music I thought the industry had finally shaken off. “Colin is a pussy, a very pretty pussy” humoured me but bar that, their apparent “re-shaping of rock” appears far from their current state. With that said, the album is probably still worth a listen, and live performances will rival the messy grimey gigs on the market.
