The Perfect Blanace

Touted as the “ones to watch” by virtually everyone and their grandmothers, Mancunian’s Smith 6079 is a band that is hard to ignore, and luckily these guys live up to the hype.

As an initial wave of whispered vocals chillingly introduce the track, its clear that ‘Ghosts’ is out to get the spine tingling in whatever way it can. Backed by some eerie ghost like echoes striving to force their way out of the speakers, Moon’s husky gravel tinged vocals drive ‘Ghosts’ with a overwhelming source of passion that punctuates every word, ramming the track forcefully down your throat whilst you happily await the next whack. Wielding gigantic 70s style guitar riffs that dominatingly swagger around, ‘Ghosts’ proceeds to leap frog into the noughties with unapologetic hooks and an infectious bout of “la, la”s that refuse to quit until all are singing along, guaranteeing that the band have the essential quotas of uniqueness to meet their retro flair. And the perfect balance is what Smith 6079 is all about. From the darkly seductive hint of foreboding that resides throughout to the up beat wash of perkiness that pushes its way through to the front, ‘Ghosts’ brilliantly balances both, offering something to scare with one hand, before sweeping away the fears with the other. Released in time for Halloween, ‘Ghosts’ will get you into the holiday spirit without causing any sleepless nights.
