We dream the same dream!

Not to be confused with a bizarre French woman who plays scary Metal, South London (said Sawf Land’un) musician Mister Jack was previously known as a member of a Punk cover band, The Deviant, that mostly played songs by The Casualties, however is now going alone in this Reggae/Blues/Punk guise.

‘Dream A little Dream’ is a lovely little Reggae/Punk/Ska gem. Think what you’d get if Tim Armstrong got together with Mike Skinner and jammed for beers, this is the product of that. There is the slight Reggae/Pop edge that the female vocals bring to the song, but it’s the simplistic arrangement and almost naive lyrics, like, “Of course it’s me // ‘Cause I’m Mister Jack // Let ‘em cry out // ‘Cause Mister Jack’s back // And do ya want a drink? ‘Cause I’m heading to the bar // And where do you live? It can’t be too far // Get me a Jaeger and a Malibu & Coke // Where do I live is that some kinda joke? // Won’t you tell me, what’s your desire // ‘Cause girl you drive me wild!”

This could easily have been left over from Tim Armstrong’s Ska/Reggae album ‘A Poet’s Life’, and added to this that some of the backing group were members of legends, The Squeeze, then short of free pictures of naked women with each download, Mister Jack could well be on to a winner. It’s cheeky cockney Ska all of the way, and that’s pretty good to me!
