Crucified by Rock

It's early afternoon, it's a Saturday and Swedish femme-rockers Crucified Barbara have just walked out on to the third stage to rapturous cheers from the crowd. Crucified Barbara are a female band which, in many cases, means party tricks and poor music - thankfully not in this case. The whole of their set is a million miles away from yesterday's performance by Slunt - you don't feel as if the band are trying to succeed using their gender, but rather that their sleazy, grimy, thunderous riffs are what make them a success.

As their set goes on, it is clear that Crucified Barbara mean business as they strut around stage with the confidence that comes from self belief and true talent. So many bands that play festival third or fourth stages are never heard of again - but Crucified Barbara have no intention of letting that happen to them.

Each of their songs seems to be better than the last as the band relax in to their Donington Surroundings. With melodic bass lines, riffs laden with 1980s excess and vocals that work fantastically with the rest of the band, it is no surprise that the crowd continue to grow for the whole of their set.

If you want a band that will keep your attention for a full set, ram solos down your throat and rekindle your belief in smaller bands then Crucified Barbara are for you.
